Stick Season
It’s officially stick season in New England – the leaves have gone and we await the snows of winter –
We go through seasons in our lives and perhaps you’re in a season that feels like “stick season” to you…
Maybe you feel barren and lifeless like the landscape outside of your window – The Bible calls it the wilderness and most can identify –
But I want to encourage you – the word for wilderness is the same word as sanctuary - the stick seasons of our lives can be some of the most fruitful – God will meet us in amazing ways as we struggle during those times –
The prophet Habakkuk writes this that has sooo encouraged me in the past –
Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, 18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! Habakkuk 3:17-18 (NLT)
During stick season rejoice and be joyful as your remember that God loves you so much that he sent His son to redeem you!
