6 Things to Do to Build a Habit of Positivity

Who doesn't enjoy being positive? It just feels good to know things are going well and will only improve. The problem? It's not always easy to maintain such a hopeful and optimistic mindset, even if you're naturally positive.

For those who struggle to look on the bright side, positivity might seem as likely to happen as a trip to the moon.

How to turn all this around and stay positive even when the day looks grim? It's simple. Make positivity a habit. You can start by adding these items to your daily To Do list:

Concentrate on Your Self Talk

Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body. Proverbs 16:24

If you pay attention to how you talk to yourself in the privacy of your own head, you might be surprised at how often negative words creep into the conversation. Make a habit of turning those negativities into more positive statements by rewording them the moment you start putting down yourself or your situation.

Create a Vision

And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.” Habakkuk 2:2

Having goals really does help one to stay

positive. Keeping on track with those goals can be difficult sometimes. Having a visual of what you're trying to achieve can help you stay positive about the future. Create a tangible vision of your goals (use a vision board, create something on Pinterest, etc.) and spend a full minute looking at this vision at least once daily.

Seek Inspiration

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. John 16:13

It helps to know other people have already succeeded at doing what you're trying to do now. Look for biographies, podcasts, or videos about your heroes. Even if you spend only a few minutes daily on this task, you'll feel a definite difference in positivity levels.

Move!

“For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” 1 Timothy 4:8

I know what the Scripture says, It is still important, just not as important as being godly. Exercise is one of the best ways to ensure your mood stays positive. Do this daily for optimal benefit.

Hang Out with the Right People

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Making a weekly habit of spending some quality time with positive people will help your mood stay upbeat considerably. Bonus points for enlisting a friend as a buddy you can check in with daily, who can help you monitor your mood and bring you up when you’re feeling down.

Create an Atmosphere

It happened that when the priests came from the holy

place, the cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.

Pray to change your atmosphere. Praying and meditation will help you. I want to encourage you that you can change your physical and spiritual atmosphere. We always feel stressed when we can't find what we need. By tidying up your environment daily, you'll always be able to find what you need when you need it. Also, a pleasant environment really does keep you feeling upbeat.

The main thing to remember here is that putting a little intentionality in your day to do things you know to bring your mood up will really make a difference in how you're feeling. Do what works best to feel good, and a positive attitude will follow!
